隨著我國改革開放和社會主義市場經濟的快速推進,中國經濟已經連續30多年保持著持續高速增長的態勢,并進入了一個最為活躍的經濟發展時期。近年來,隨著我國加入WTO后有關承諾條款的逐步兌現,眾多外資工商企業紛紛搶灘登陸、進軍中國市場,不僅使我國迅速融入全球經濟一體化進程,而且也更加凸顯中國市場的國際化特征。
外向型經濟依靠外語工具支撐,國際貿易、商務活動的順利開展需要大批英語人才作保證。商務英語涉及國際貿易、商務往來、通關報檢、運輸倉儲、會展旅游等各領域,并在國際交往、商務活動、文化交流、促進經濟發展、豐富社會生活、構建和諧社會、弘揚中華文化等方面發揮著越來越大的作用,因而成為我國經濟發展的重要支撐,在我國外向型經濟發展中占有舉足輕重的位置。
當前,面對世界經濟的迅猛發展和國際市場激烈競爭的壓力,我國企業要生存就必須走出國門,中國經濟要發展就必須參與國際競爭。為此急需大量既懂專業知識,又掌握外語工具的新型商務英語人才。加強商務英語的推廣普及,加速商務英語專業知識技能型應用人才的培養,已成為我國經濟轉型發展亟待解決的問題。
需求促進專業建設,市場驅動人才培養,針對我國高校商務英語教材陳舊,知識老化而急需更新的問題,為了配合“北京市國際化大都市”的建設,適應國家經濟發展、滿足社會商務英語人才市場需求,扶助“中、小、微”企業發展,也為了解決學生就業問題,在北京聯合大學、燕山大學、北京交通大學、山西大學、北方工業大學、鄭州大學等全國10多所高校的支持下,我們組織多年從事商務英語教學和實踐活動的國內知名專家教授及業界精英,共同精心編撰了此套教材,旨在提高我國商務英語專業大學生和從業者的專業技術素質,更好地服務于我國外向型經濟。
