《國際導游與領隊（英文）》是根據編者多年積累的教學實踐和豐富的旅業工作經驗，針對旅游管理專業高等教育的特點和旅業特征，并參考了外的相關出版物編寫而成的。
《國際導游與領隊（英文）》尤其強調實用性和作性，注重涉外導游與出境領隊工作的程序、環節、要點，突出涉外導游與出境領隊業務的應用、作方面的內容，力求使讀者能學以致用，以解決工作中的實際問題。全書共分為三個部分19個單元，每個單元又由課文、口語技能、練習作業、課內練習、擴展閱讀等5個部分構成。部分“導游”，共8個單元，主要介紹接團、入住、用餐、觀光游覽、現場導游、旅游購物到后送團整個導游服務業務過程，涉及接待、行李處理、歡迎詞、導游詞、歡送詞、現場講解、景點翻譯、菜名翻譯、購物服務等環節的流程和語言技能訓練。第二部分“出境領隊”，共5個單元，主要介紹國際航班乘坐、出入境手續辦理、購物退稅申請、緊急特殊情況處理和自由活動翻譯服務等主要出境領隊業務過程和語言技能訓練。第三部分“實用旅游英文寫作”，共6個單元，主要介紹出入境旅游業務應用文的認讀與擬寫，包括旅游咨詢、預訂與確認、旅行通知（出游通知、催款、旅行警示）、旅行社業務往來信函、游程與旅游合同、投訴處理等，通過范文幫助讀者熟悉和掌握各種文體的寫作格式、內容要點和常用句型與語言特點，并能熟練地運用這些實用文體。
