《電子類專業(yè)實用英語》是中等職業(yè)教育示范專業(yè)規(guī)劃教材（電子信息類），是根據(jù)教育部“專業(yè)技能型緊缺人才培養(yǎng)方案”，以中職、職高、技校電子信息類專業(yè)的就業(yè)需求為指導(dǎo)編寫的。內(nèi)容包括與電子技術(shù)相關(guān)的電工知識、低頻知識、高頻知識，例如電流、電壓、常用電子元器件、儀表與測試、無線電收發(fā)器等；與現(xiàn)代家庭電子電器產(chǎn)品相關(guān)的知識，例如電視機(jī)、數(shù)碼照相機(jī)、音響設(shè)備等；還包括一些與電子技術(shù)密切聯(lián)系的新知識，例如計算機(jī)、互聯(lián)網(wǎng)、移動電話、藍(lán)牙技術(shù)、第三代無線通信系統(tǒng)等。書后附有實用的語音知識、詞匯表、專業(yè)術(shù)語及縮寫、課文參考譯文及練習(xí)答案，方便教師教學(xué)與學(xué)生練習(xí)。
電子技術(shù)是現(xiàn)代高科技發(fā)展的基礎(chǔ)，隨著電子技術(shù)的迅速發(fā)展及日趨國際化，電子類專業(yè)英語在行業(yè)中顯出重要的媒介作用。中職電子類學(xué)生掌握好一定的電子技術(shù)英語不但能提高他們的自身素質(zhì)，還能為他們創(chuàng)造就業(yè)前景。
本教材嚴(yán)格按照教育部頒發(fā)的“中等職業(yè)學(xué)校英語教學(xué)大綱”要求編寫。編者根據(jù)多年的教學(xué)實踐，針對目前中職學(xué)生英語學(xué)習(xí)的實際情況，擺脫了專業(yè)英語為科技文獻(xiàn)組合的編排形式，按照中職學(xué)生的認(rèn)知規(guī)律，力求通俗、易學(xué)、知識新而且實用。
全書共16個單元，建議每個單元用4-5個學(xué)時，共60～70個學(xué)時。每個單元由對話、課文、補(bǔ)充閱讀、語法或?qū)嵱糜⒄Z、閑暇英語（Dialogue，Passage，Read More，Grammar/Practical English，Leisure Time）五個部分組成，以閱讀為主，兼顧聽、說、寫、譯等基本技能的訓(xùn)練，注重對學(xué)生的思維能力、英語學(xué)習(xí)能力的啟發(fā)和培養(yǎng)。每篇課文力求簡潔、表達(dá)流暢。為了增加文章的趣味性和直觀性，文中配有相關(guān)有趣的圖片。文后配有生詞表和專業(yè)術(shù)語表，補(bǔ)充閱讀后配有生詞解釋，并針對課文中出現(xiàn)的難句、難點，在文后進(jìn)行了較詳盡的解釋。另外，書后附有語音知識（附錄A）、詞匯表（附錄B）、常用專業(yè)術(shù)語及縮寫（附錄C）、課文譯文和練習(xí)答案（附錄D）。
